Zines in Public Schools is a community organization that works to connect children and adolescence to materials and educational resources about amateur publishing methods. It is our goal to provide ephemeral publications to youth and strengthen their understanding through zine making activities.
The idea of Zines in Public Schools began in 2015, when Director Kathryn Ross began volunteering with The Antelope Lending Library, a local bookmobile. Working with Directors Cassi Elton and Braeden Jones, Kathryn wrote and implemented zine curriculum for The Antelope Lending Library's outreach program in the summer of 2015. From the success of the zine camp, in which students created and disseminated their own zine, Zines in Public Schools has been able to work with numerous local community organizations.
